Special Session on Sustainable Manufacturing

Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them. – Albert Einstein                                                                                                                       Sustainability requires maintaining life-supporting natural capital in order for our socioeconomic goals to be met. – Warren Flint                                                                                                                                         Reducing our levels of consumption will not be a sacrifice but a bonus if we simply redefine the meaning of the word ‘success.’ – David Wann                                                                                                                                         People ‘over-produce’ pollution because they are not paying for the costs of dealing with it ― Ha-Joon Chang                                                                                                                                         What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another. – Gandhi

Workshop on Sustainable Manufacturing - Registration Form

“A growing number of companies are treating “sustainability” as an important objective in their strategy and operations to increase growth and global competitiveness. This trend has reached well beyond the small niche of those who traditionally positioned themselves as “green,” and now includes prominent businesses across diverse industrial sectors. In many cases, these efforts are having significant results (EPA, USA). This is nothing new to Sri Lankan manufacturing sector. The forerunners are already yielding the benefits.”

The aim of this event is to bring together academia, researchers, practitioners and policy makers to share their practices, experiences and research outcomes in the area of Sustainable Manufacturing.
